CAPITAL CITY YOUNG AVIATORS
As the initial flying experience for all youth to participate, the Young Flyers Club is an engagement offering an opportunity for each middle school or high school student the chance to visit an airport, see many areas of the aviation industry and actually take a flight in a single engine airplane at over 3,000 feet in the air. We believe opportunities to have life changing experiences and additional mentoring involvement is critical to each student reaching their own long-term goals.
Student flights will primarily be provided during the summer and the number of students served will be based on CCYA fundraising success at a budget at around $350 - $400 per student.
Our goal with each student through this program is to help them choose education, self-worth, and confidence in themselves to seek out and achieve a career that is right for them.
For the privilege in receiving an aviation-based experience and education, each student will have a number of expectations that CCYA will require to actually schedule their flights at no cost to them. CCYA believes that individual success comes from opening doors of opportunities presented to them, showing up and putting in the work required to reach their goals. CCYA will expect each student to show the following characteristics during their time within the program.
• Finish all assigned work
• Be courteous to others
• Attend and be punctual to all assigned events
• Always do your best
• Be open to new ideas
• Listen and be respectful to all authorities
Please note that all areas that are required before
scheduling a flight with CCA Instructor. Also each
student will be responsible for their own
transportation to and from each scheduled event.
In addition to the initial summer flight schedule in part I., each student will also have the opportunity to stay involved with CCYA through additional Off season experiences throughout the school year. Examples of possible additional monthly experiences may include the following: Airplane simulator flight time, visit to Port Columbus tower, community service events, visit to CSCC aviation school, career development training.
Also, as part of each student’s opportunity for additional flight time the following summer, students will be provided a fundraising platform to raise funds to pay for the flight as well as support other future student’s chance to join the program as well.
* Please note that all CCYA program events are open to change depending on community partners availability and Capital City Aviation (CCA) limitations and restrictions. Other possible changes to the program and schedule will be dependent on weather, plane availability and instructor schedules.
